What is a cap rebar or rebar?

Capped rebar is a special type of ribbed rebar that has a cap-like protrusion on one or both ends. If structural engineers use regular rebar for a building foundation, they bend the ends to 90 or 130 degrees to ensure they are firmly embedded in the concrete, but capped steel sections do not need to be bent and remain firmly embedded in the concrete. 

Using sections instead of bending the ends of the rebar makes the foundation more regular and prevents problems caused by the density of the rebar. The density of these steel sections leads to problems such as increasing the possibility of concrete cracking and increasing the cost and complexity of the construction process.

Various uses of rebar

This tool is not much different from ordinary rebar in terms of application. These steel sections are used as both longitudinal and transverse rebar in the structure. They increase the strength and safety of the structure and are suitable tools for reinforcing concrete.

Rebar eliminates many of the problems of concrete reinforcement and bracing and greatly helps to increase the safety of large structures such as underground structures and towers. These steel sections are used in various parts of the structure from foundations to beams and columns. These products are more expensive than regular rebar; therefore, they are used only in special cases.

To make a rebar cap, either the end of a regular rebar is heated and shaped into a cap, or a separate piece is attached to the end of the rebar by methods such as welding and pressing. These steel sections must be used in the structure in accordance with the principles and regulations of the building code and ABA (Iranian Concrete Code) and must be installed in the structure by experienced and professional people.
